You Deserve An Experienced Inspector!
Home Standards Inspection Services was founded by owner Steve Vacha. Steve began performing home inpections 1996. Prior to inspecting homes and commercial properties, Steve worked as a contractor and home builder in the Omaha and Council Bluffs area for 20 years.
Home Standards' home inspectors are able to put items of concern and a home’s strong points into perspective. To the left is a photo of a whirlpool tub in a lovely, well-built home. However, the water supply line to the tub has a small leak and water is dripping onto the GFCI outlet. In addition, it turns out the GFCI outlet is defective. This is not a major repair expense, but it is a very serious safety and electrical hazard.

The photos to the right were taken during a recent home inspection where Steve first noticed minor damage at the veneer by the drive. The home has a pretty large crack at the block wall at the back of the garage which had been covered with shovels and boxes. The home has drywall that appears to have seams that are bowed out, and it has one small area at the stairwell which backs up to the garage that has been repaired.
What all this means is Street Creep, the street is literally pushing the garage floor into the back block wall of the house. This has caused damage to the block wall supporting the house and will continue to get worse. This type of situation calls for an engineer to shore up the home and specify necessary repairs.

Our inspectors have gained expertise that only years of experience can give. We are familiar with the proper installation and elements of home construction and their maintenance, from historical homes to new construction. We understand how the homes’ many different parts and components work together and why they fail.
But just when you think you've "seen it all", you find a secret "bonus" room. The photos on the right are a bonus room in a vacant home, actually discovered during the home inspection.
